It’s been a while, but this isn’t the first Shiner beer we’ve had on the site. Far from it actually; I reviewed the Shiner Family Reunion pack a while ago, which included the old standby Shiner Bock as well as other beers such as Hefeweizen and Kosmos Reserve.
Shiner Bock does make an appearance at a couple of Walt Disney World locations, currently ESPN Club and the AMC Dine-In Theater, but Shiner Wild Hare Pale Ale is new to the resort for the 2014 Epcot Food and Wine Festival. Craft Beers will serve Wild Hare, so let’s see what it’s like.
Wild Hare pours a fairly clear copper color with a white head about an inch tall. Grain in the scent along with just a hint of floral. This beer really needs to warm up a bit before drinking it. While most beers taste better a little while after being out of the fridge, this is one I especially noticed more flavor from as it warmed. The flavor profile takes more of an English pale ale rather than an American pale ale. Caramel sweetness and a bit of hops along with a bit of orange rind. A little thin, but prickly carbonation.
As seems to be the case so far with this year’s Epcot Food and Wine tastings, it’s good but not that great. I’d honestly rather a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. My wife seems to enjoy it though, so take that for what you will.
